McCue is seeking for Commissioning Engineer/Technologist – Water Treatment

As an Commissioning Engineer/Technologist – Water Treatment, you will assume a crucial position in facilitating the effective deployment of our systems through the following key responsibilities:

  • Collaborating closely with the Engineering team to facilitate the electrical, mechanical and controls commissioning of our systems.
  • Participating in planning processes for commissioning activities.
  • Formulating and executing streamlined and standardized protocols for both factory and on-site testing and commissioning.
  • Offering constructive design feedback to enhance system functionality.


  • Prioritize work in consultation with Engineering Manager.
  • Make recommendations to the Engineering Manager and Directors for operational changes/improvements.
  • Communication with management, engineers, workers, clients and subcontractors will be a critical part of this position.
  • Promote company values at all times.


In addition to a valid driver’s license, applicants should have the following experience and/or qualifications:

  • Flexibility in travel: Candidates must be willing and ready to travel to sites across Canada and potentially outside the country.
  • Educational background: A diploma or degree in water treatment/controls Engineering or Technology or an equivalent qualification, coupled with 2 to 4 years of relevant post-graduation experience as an Engineer or Engineer in Training/Technologist.
  • Compliance with safety standards: Proficiency in adhering to industrial safety norms concerning mechanically and electrically energized systems.
  • Technical expertise: Demonstrated proficiency and practical experience in electrical, mechanical and controls installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting, encompassing power and control panel configuration, testing, and diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with electrical components: Knowledge of prevalent industrial electrical hardware elements and adeptness in navigating major manufacturers’ catalogs for items such as enclosures, disconnects, and circuit breakers.
  • Understanding of regulatory codes: Basic familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code and its practical application.
  • Interpretation of technical documentation: Ability to interpret electrical documents and drawings, including panel layout schematics, single line/wiring diagrams, cable pull sheets, and communication network architectures.
  • Additional skills (Bonus): Working knowledge and familiarity with industrial Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) coding and Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) operations.
  • Essential skill sets: Proficiency in interpersonal communication, both verbal and written, in English; adeptness in teamwork; organizational skills with an emphasis on prioritization and maintaining work quality; quick adaptation to new skills in a dynamic work environment; practical experience in hands-on tooling, mechanical aptitude, and troubleshooting; adeptness in critical thinking and proficient in risk management; positive demeanor, proactive approach, and readiness to engage in hands-on tasks.

Preference will be given to those with previous experience constructing water treatment systems.  Emergency Level 1 First Aid certification will also be an asset.

Drug testing may be required to access some project sites.
